Rooted in Promise
This exploration of Romans 7 challenges us to understand our relationship with God's law and the transformative power of grace. We discover that while the law is holy and good, revealing what is right and wrong, it also exposes our inability to perfectly obey it. The message uses vivid illustrations, from marriage bonds to wet cement, to show how our sin nature is actually aroused when we know the boundaries. Like children who want to touch wet cement precisely because they know they should not, we are drawn to push against God's commands. But here is the beautiful truth: through Christ, we have died to the law's condemnation. We are no longer married to our old master of sin but belong to Jesus, who was raised from the dead. This is not freedom to do whatever we want, but freedom for a purpose. We are rescued to bear fruit for God, to serve our communities, share the gospel, and make disciples. The law still teaches us right from wrong, but it no longer condemns us. Instead, we live under grace, empowered by the Spirit to grow in love, joy, peace, patience, and all the fruits that glorify God. This message calls us to examine where we are sowing into sin versus bearing fruit for the kingdom.
